Jon has been teaching and performing in the Cortland/Ithaca area for over a decade. Dedicated to building community through music, he has spent much of that time developing the Cortland High School Modern Band program; a program focused on developing real-world musical skills and fostering every student's inherent creativity. In his time at CHS, he has produced 6 student studio albums and over 80 student performances in and around Cortland. He is also one of the organizers of the Rootstock Youth Music Festival, a yearly collaboration between New Roots Charter School and the Grassroots organization that brings youth bands from around the finger lakes together in celebration and performance.
As a performer, you can find Jon in a variety of musical scenarios including playing keys in and music directing the Sing Trece Band, playing guitar with the Blondie inspired cover band Silver, playing drums in any number of local pit orchestras, and much much more.
Born and raised in Clifton Park, NY and transplanted to the finger lakes region, he has a bachelors degree in music education and performance from Ithaca College, as well as a masters in music education from the University of South Florida.
